Reviving Mathematics in Nigeria: For the people or for the individual...

To revive the study of Mathematics in Nigeria, the Federal Government should declare a four-year national emergency in Mathematics, Director/Chief Executive Executive Officer of the National Mathematical Centre, Prof. Adewale Solarin, has said.
The emergency should also include N108 billion bailout for the over 54,000 public primary schools in the country and moving the NMC to the Presidency, while all the private companies in Nigeria should adopt each of the public schools in the country.
According to Solarin, the use of Mathematics to solve electoral puzzle, a feat achieved by Prof. Chike Obi, in the Second Republic, could still be replicated in contemporary Nigeria because “there is Mathematics in everything.”
He spoke in Abuja during the national olympiads awards ceremony for secondary schools in Nigeria and investiture of first distinguished Fellow of NMC, Prof. Sam Ale, who was also its former Director-General.{
Solarin said, “The problem is basically for us to
 have the funds to be able to extend these methods and developing materials to schools. Basically, you know that Maths at the secondary school level is a state affair; education is on the concurrent list. So it takes the state to take interest in the activities of the NMC to be able to reach out to the schools.
      Who needs 108,000,000,000 to revive mathematics in a country. If this is a means, to what end? This innovation, what change is expectant, a reduction or eradication in the high rate of examination malpractice or a better grooming of the standard of education or to inculcate the habit of reading in the mind of children and youth.
         Like minds, is this a way forward or a way out of the current state of educational mishap in Nigerian institutions or another exploit of the country's financial resources.   However, what good has the introduction of civic education brought amidst similar subjects as government, moral instruction etc. Discipline, influenced behaviours or selflessness

The Dangers Of Been Slim...

       I read an article on the risk of been thin. I was amazed that something so admired and cherished can also be disastrous. Slim is beautiful. Slim is admired. Slim is money and for so many others in society "it's the in-thing". We are so caught up with been slim, so many have gone extra miles with surgery, some others captives of depression. The reality is, slim people are at a higher risk of acquiring fat related diseases than fat people. Not been fat puts one in more danger, thus stating that one is slim with less chances of acquiring fat related diseases is not telling ourselves the truth. When excess carbohydrates and fatty food are consumed, chances of our body storing the excess is certain.
      The question is, I am not fat, what are my chances of been victimised by fat related diseases as cardiovascular. We should be aware that fat are stored in different parts of our body. Some under the skin(cutaneous) are much more safer and some others in our organs(visceral) such as our liver, kidney, heart etc. This is more dangerous, harmful and deceptive because on the outside one looks slim but on the inside more is been destroyed.
      The answer is, we should make checking our weight regularly a priority to enable the calculation of body mass index to determine if one is underweight, overweight or even obese and in cases beyond the ordinary, working out and other measures should be taking to include counselling and meeting with a nutrionist.

I'm writing this with respect to the ongoing trend in society. The gay and transgender syndrome. I'm also writing as regarding Linda barnette's statement. Sure, the end is nigh and rapture is taking it's toll in society. So many more is yet to come, more that would shake humanity, religion, personal beliefs, human nature etc. So many others would force us to question our faith, denounce our beliefs and alter our humanity. We may never be able to defend ourselves, we may not be heard as well. Although, this might be the case and for which we all are aware. A time will come that we will be so shaken and pushed continuously, we should not waver or be moved for this to shall pass.

i choose to obey God rather than man...

This is nothing new, the legalization of gay marriages worldwide, it's refusal by some and it's acceptance by so many others. Here's the recent news as regarding the final approval and legalization of of gay marriages by an American court. A clerk in person of Linda Barnette who in time past have issued several marriage certificate to couples, resigned her job stating that she can no longer fulfill her duties as clerk by issuing certificates to same sex couples. Hmm... this is a serious one, i as an individual believes, we should stand for what we believe in. what your opinion of this decision she made?
              "In the coming days, i believe Christians will be forced to abandon their jobs in public service. Those who remain will be targeted with lawsuits and investigations from the activists". What the certainty in this statement. Is there a truth to what she said.
